I posted this in the rock forum last night and nobody said anything about it so thought I would put it out to a larger audience.

My questions are: What type stone is this? Is it anything "special" or just a well rounded rock?

Thanks for looking!

Well it's probably a phenomenon nature, but those lined striations on the outer perimeter sure make me wonder??? I would say it looks like a short piece of rock core drilled with a diamond core barrel core bit, but way to weathered looking to be recent times. Who knows what you have? Those danged Egyptians cored rock and scientist can only assume how they did it. Maybe you've got some kind of evidence of a lost culture and their advanced technology. :dontknow: Or maybe a native type of game piece?

Does brass turn that color when it's been in water for a long time? I meant to say it's not magnetic but not sure if brass is or not. It could be though, thanks for your comment, I'm open to any suggestions, it's got me so curious lol

tamrock: you might be onto something there. Wonder if Native Americans did that because I find tons of artifacts in the creek where I found this. Thank you!

The Indians drilled holes to make smoking pipes with cane (bamboo) and damp sand. I've drilled holes in sandstone using that technique, so I know it works.

Could be a discoidal, a native game piece. Seems too small for Chunkey, but could be another game. Or could be a rock...
