Fools gold is pyrite...It's more crystalline in shape. You may have the real deal there.

Read up on Archimedes' principle and try it for yourself. That's an easy, cheap way to find out what it is.

Divide the weight of your object by its volume. You can find the volume by finding out how much water the nugget displaces. Do this by putting the nugget in a graduated cylinder and see how much the water level rises.

Weight over volume is density. Gold's density at room temperature is 19.3  g·cm−3.

Good luck.

And don't forget to yell "Eureka".

From my point of view it sure looks like the Real Deal.
Definately get some more advice from a professional.
Way to go Iggy.

Looks real to me if you put it in the shade and it still maintains that shinny lustery look I'd say you got the real deal.

Did you clean it? The above specific gravity test and retaining the gold color in the shade would pretty much confirm it.. Also gold is soft...Very nice!!

Can you nick it with a knife blade? Does it seem unusually heavy for its size? Did it come out of the ground looking that nice? IF you can answer "yes" to these questions, chances are it's the real deal. Congrats. Now where did you say you found this? Hmmmmm
