Somewhere in the woods
Detector(s) used
Whites M6
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
It's approx. 1 3/4" longest side x 1 1/4" across x 1/2" thick. Very heavy for it's size at 70.96 grams.
Slightly magnetic, pretty weak.
Brown color streak test.
Tried for specific gravity but failed miserably. :BangHead:
Appears tumbled/polished.
From a small lot of items purchased at an estate sale.

Yup...looks like hematite to me.

Thanks tumbled hematite it is. I kind of disregarded hematite before you mentioned it. Only because I was comparing the magnetic properties to those oval shaped magnetic hematite magnets of which I have a pair of. I just found out that those are man made and real hematite is only slightly magnetic. So thanks for making me look it up. Lol.

I'd not be so sure. A brown streak kinda suggests otherwise..?

I just tested it again and looked closer. It's more of a dark rust color after I wipe it off the plate. Looks dark brown at first before cleaning the test plate off.

It it looks kinda reddish-brown - I suppose that's OK. :)
If it where a pure "rust"/limonite brown, I'd rule out hematite.
