Whatever it is, I would love to poke around there for a day or two! You should be able to detect plenty of clues as to it's purpose. Also wouldn't hurt to check historical maps of the spot.
More photos would help as well. Is there a concrete floor?
There could be some cool stuff around that thing and I hope you keep us posted!

I'm pretty sure that's the Highlander's hideout. Just remember though, "there can be only one." ;).

Is that an ax handle I see left pic bottom middle right hand side? Where is the right pic located in relation with the left pic? Rather, is the right pic the front of the left pic? I agree with JOHUNT, you may be able to get a clus by detecting the area. Looks like a lot of trash so pick where to hunt to try and avoid most of it. You have a better scope of the place than any of us.

Looking at Google Earth I see what looks to be a lot of coal mining activity around there. I'd imagine it could be leftover from that. What it was, I've no idea, but if it's on an old road, and you can find a name for that road, it should be easy to find out from old maps.

Whose woods is it? Maybe they could enlighten you...

yes that is it

It seems to be since it is located that close to a highway, someone in the area would know what it is. Have you asked any of the surrounding neighbors or businesses? Breezie

What is that large round bisected circular area with the 6 ft. concrete walls across the street from it?
Nice photo, I checked that site for an hour looking for that view and missed it somehow. I see the round concrete structure that I was talking about.

If you look closely, I think the building is there too. The photo isn't the best but if you look closely at the small dirt drive on this side of the main road, you can see a structure, or the remnants of one. Anybody else see it?

I was thinking along the lines of it being RR related too. After looking at the photo you provided, now i'm not so sure.
