I'm kind of thinking a Belgium Flobert Parlor rifle somewhere around 1886. The bbl would be about 23 5/8" long

Hi,
that's just what I tought , a part was missing.
This system was called "rolling block" . If I'm not mistaken
this system was also used in the old remington rifles ...

Note - Belgium is a country! Browning is a company. Fabrique Nationale (FN), a famous Belgian arms company, made guns for Browning.

I believe this is a "drop block" instead of a rolling block. I have a 22 cal and a 32 cal .

I think you guys are right on target. . . my grandmothers cousin (vet of WWI) had one like that with the "rolling/drop" block & ornate trigger guard. It was stamped Belgium and was .22 cal. I'd post a pic but I don't have it anymore because I gave it to a friend to hang over his fireplace. In it's time, I'll bet that rifle could hit a rabbit in the back 40 without any problems.

Take care,
