I found this metal nugget under a tree in an old park in Walla Walla, Wa. about 6 inches deep. Have no clue, looks like lead I guess, but why would a lead nugget be there? Thank You! 20120911_140843.webp

Hard to say just looking at pic.....not oxidized like old lead in regular ground. Is it soft like pure lead.

Probably zinc slag..

It is soft like pure lead. Zinc Slag was mentioned. I am wondering why either lead or zinc slag would be under a 100 year old tree in a 100 year old park...???

who knows what was there before the park, blacksmith shop, coppersmith, old garage, what is in the ground stays in the ground until someone finds it, and it could have been the ground and likely was long before the park and tree were there....
