🔎 UNIDENTIFIED What is this? Little aluminum thing stamped M&M

I found this in the back yard of an 1830s house. I have no doubt it is not very old but I can't figure out what it is. It feels like it's something I should know but just can't place.
Google image search didn't produce anything helpful.

It has punch out angle pieces that would attached to something. Maybe leather? I'm not sure.

Any help appreciated!

Old gun part and M&M plate?

I believe the iron piece is an old gun part, but I’m not sure what the M&M Metal plate is. I know it’s not “old” but it was just interesting to me, and I liked the style of the lettering on it!:laughing7: lol any ideas on what it may have come on? I’m guessing it was a tag on something. Can’t...
