I was digging out the bottom of a kitchen pit from an old house site in west central Mississippi this afternoon and found this piece. Not sure what it went to but it's solid cast and as you can see it's very decorative. The top has a sunburst type design. Any ideas of what this could've gone to or what it is? I'm attaching at top, back and complete frontal photo.

Maybe part of a cast iron cook stove ??

Looks like a portion of a cast iron storefront.

if i am seeing that piece correctly they make long matches for lighting fireplaces
and stoves that come in a long square box, looks like the box would fit in it perfect
cool find, what else did you find.

I also found some military and non military artifacts - buttons, coins, butchered animal bones, etc.
