It's about the size of a belt buckle, so I don't think it's a trap, but it could be. Thanks for the info mike, maybe someone will recognize it and we'll both know for sure. :thumbsup:

Whoops, I thought I had seen 14 inches not 4. My humble apology.

There are many different kind of lynchpins but I guess that part needs to be straight. I think we need to clean it up for positive ID.

Thanks for all of the info....I think Catfish is right, after closer inspection, it seems like it is a buckle of some sort. Thanks again everyone.

Hard to tell under all that rust but I think Catfish got it. Maybe horse related. :-\
