Believe me, it will. Dipping it will clean it just as well. You NEVER scrub a coin. Ever. Trust me on this one, I know what I am talking about.

no rubbing, it can leave swirl marks -- which are highly undesirible on "collector" type coins.

yes ,never ever scrub any coin :o

question ,, is it a silver coin ???

if it is silver ,you can lay it in a bath with lemon ;D

it wil clear the coin of corrosion in 30 minutes ;)

A soft bristle toothbrush leaves no marks on a circulated coin. On a proof or Mint state coin, maybe. Not a circulated coin. I have done 100's without any damage. All my coppers I dug, all my old coins I bought and needed a clearer date I have used one. I said SOFT toothbrush.

tw656, Please ignore oldplace's comments. I am obviously with the majority who agree that you could easily ruin the coin with ANY scrubbing, including a "soft" toothbrush. No offense, but this guy is talking about cleaning dug coppers, which this is obviously not.

You WILL ruin the coin with ANY scrubbing. It's called cleaning....

It is a common coin in mid condition. There is nothing to ruin. I did say do not use a toothbrush on mint state and proof coins. Circulated coins do not have any "luster" to lose. A soft toothbrush will not put a mark on a circulated coin. Have any of you experts ever tried it? Probably not. With my extensive experience in doing it, I think I am the one with the correct opinion.
