What is this doing in my lawn?

My house was built in 1991. I have found a lot of nails and building materials around the area, but I was intrigued when I pulled this out of the ground at about 6 inches. Anyone know how old it is? I speculate that it is from the mid 70's

Are there any other good items that I might find that would help me date the area I am digging in?

A calendar? OK, just being a wiseguy - sorry. That pulltab style came out in the late mid-late 60's with the new aluminum beer cans here in my area, if I remember correctly.

You ask, paraphrasing: What else could you find that would help you date the area? Just about anything, actually, as long as it's not too ubiquitous. So show us some more stuff and let us guesstimate the time period. Happy Hunting!

60's even! What an odd place for such an old item... There was a post some time ago about somebody that likes to find pull tabs to date the area they were looking. Does anyone know the exact dates of the different style pull tabs? I couldn't find any info on them.

Not odd to find a 60's beer can in a lawn for a 1991 home. The beer can was probably tossed there years earlier and got covered by leaves, weeds, etc. It became a part of the landscape.
