What is this copper thingy

Found while detecting. The item is 2 and 3/4 inches long. I know some of you guys have seen almost everything and I an hoping for a clue. Thanks for looking.

tinkler or possibly, a Button Hook. perhaps with missing wood handle
...that helped LACE very high Boots and Shoes - even helped with buttons on shirts -
that were in the fashion of the day....
