what is this copper piece??

Was out checking a 8 acre site that eight houses from the 1940s were torn down. Found alot of copper and brass pieces such as pipe fittings, door knobs, cabinet handles, but i cannot figure out was this piece is. Found some clad and newer cents, but no silver yet. Got only a small section done before the rain hit. Any ideas??

Since it's close to a quarter in size, your mystery item could be a curtain ring.

Don't think it's any sort of mini gag loop: the eye is too small.

tony - i could have braved the rain, but it was a good excuse to get home and watch the wildcard game.

I don't know what they are either, but I found 6 or 8 of them nested together and tied with cotton string in my own yard a few years ago. Someone also suggested curtain rings to me, but I'm not sold on that yet.

Could have been part of a blind. The ring at the end of the string you pull down.

UUmm could it be the thingy that hooks the electric service to the house. Just a thought.

Maybe the small end was tied to a post and the big ring was to tie a horse up to.
My two cents. Even though its brass..hummmm.

horse holder -- a rope was tied between two objects -- running thru small hole--- the horse was clipped to the big ring (it moved freely along the line back and forth -- sliding on the rope ) -- kind of like a modern type dog run kind of set up -- you could put several horses on a line by using more than one ring-- Ivan
