what is this coin

found this silver coin yesterday it about the size of a american small cent :help:

Can you tell if it says "1R" like this coin. (9 o'clock position)

Just looks bigger than a penny. A half real is probably close to a dime in size, and a real maybe about a nickel. So you saying penny makes it hard to say... but the picture it looks closer to the nickel for size. it doesn't really matter anyway, still Spanish silver.

spanish silver * close to quarter in size could be a 2 reale or "2 bits" equal in value to "a quarter" or 1/4 th of a 8 reale coin (often the 8 reale coins were cut up in 1/8ths each part called a "bit") = the spanish 8 reale coin was the basis used for the "american dollar" both overall size and silver purity wize (90% pure silver)===dime size would be a 1 reale = 12 1/2 cents

2R = 2 reales (25 cents -(us equal coin quarter)
1R = 1 reale ( 12 1/2 cents (dime)
R = 1/2 reale ( 6 1/4 cent - (half dime)

i checked the size its almost the same as a nickel, bigger then a dime.
and thank you fellows for the help,.i finaly got the 1700s ,barely/lol

Worth maybe a little more than it's weight in silver, but a whole lot of satisfaction.
