I found this at the bottom of an auction box I purchased and haven't been able to identify it. Any help or information to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

personally, I think it's a kid's toy military medal. the casting is far too poor to be genuine

Thanks for your input. I hadn't considered that and will be sure to search around the internet for that tonight.

Correct. Radiant Eagle Game Counter.

late 1800's / very early 1900's

These counters were issued to a casino. The variations were patterns and some were trial pieces. These are not common and are quite valuable. The watch stems were a gimmick to entice men to buy a piece and never use it, thus a profit to the establishment. All were destroyed when the casino changed counters, but a few survived.

I found one many years ago inside an old fireplace out in some woods, and did not really know what is was, all with perfect detail. Thank you jeff of pa for the infro. and web site, a place to check in with.

jeff of pa. I have the same as yours, with the 2.50 on it, but w/o the "FOB", again this one is in non-dug condition, as if it could have been used yesterday, still trying to find out more about it. And Char77, that makes three of us.

Only thing I can tell you on Mine it a from a Site everything Dug was between 1850's & 1920's
so I have no reason to believe it is more recent then that.
and I Believe Mark Parker of W&E Treasures said they were most likely Minted in Germany.

Typing in "Radiant Eagle Counter" lots of stuff came up. Size wise, they ranged from dime to silver dollar, and came in 1, 2/50, 5, 10, 20, 50, & 100. Often in brass, gilt brass, silver gilt brass, gilt pewter & even aluminum? They are as jeff said uncommon, With the fob, even more so I believe. Of what I've seen, "undamaged" $15 to $25 range or more depending on type, size etc. Having said that, Char's is different in that the eagle is on top of a shield? All things considered, casino's & even saloons, it's just good to know.
