I can see what you mean about being three parts. I wish I could help you. Great looking button. Burdie

PBK = Yoda. I would be flattered to be considered as a Padawan, but I just can't figure this one out. A really nice button though!

Nice button!
Is it a flat button? Back mark? If the back is rusted, then it is more modern. It would be nice to see the reverse if you get a chance.

Yoda? Sadly, the resemblance is purely physical. Anyway, to the button...

I believe it's a late 19th century dress button depicting the Roman goddess of war, Minerva, who is often shown wearing a helmet. Usually, there is a dragon atop the helmet, although some are so stylized that you really can't tell what they are. Here's a link to a page with other examples:

First of all thank you to everyone that has replied I really appreciate it. PBK I Think you are on to somthing Ive had the button for 6 months and from reading your post I just realized that it is a woman on the button. her hair comes out of the top of the helmet and goes down the left side of the button. I will do some more checking into this hopefully I can find it. Thanks again. Let me know if you find out anymore. :)
