Thanks! I need to pay more attention to these finds. I have many eagle buttons and what not but I am so fixed on colonial and pre colonial that I just put this stuff up for safe keeping. Many of them havent even been brushed off. Where did 20 years go?

Man you had best check through those button you might have some good ones in there. I know how it is though. The utility sink in my laundry room is piled full of containers of stuff I need to clean . One day I'll get around to it. :laughing7:

Yeah, its funny. there are paper towels full of "one days hunt" items. I just wrapped them up and put them down in the box. Hundreds of relics in that stuf. my wife gives me hell because I can remember every aspect of each hunt but cant remember where she went when someone calls for her. Heh...

And she thinks I dont have my priorities straight? :laughing9:

Sounds a lot like me. :laughing7: I can relate to the paper towels, also 7-11 coffee cups, gatorade bottles with the tops cut off and anything that will hold stuff I dug until I can clean it . As far as the wife she won't even talk to me about digging anymore.

Oh, God. Tell me about it. :P

The ONLY thing going for me is that I've had to move several times--and I told myself that I would Clean and Organize all the finds that were waiting. The only thing I haven't gotten around to is all the iron. I go through waves where I do several pieces, then I dig 5 or 6 more that I want to keep, then I put two more in the electrolysis tank--and dig 4 more...

But whenever I stop moving all over and settle down, God Help Me. :sad1:

I'd love to help with the ID of your buttons--you might have some good CW or 1812 Era finds in there.

Nice ID, Vayank.

Thanks BB. Just don't end up like me with a barn full of 5 gallon buckets full of odd and end iron stuff that will get cleaned one day. ha ha I was rooting around the other day and found a limber chest handle. I didn't even know I had it and am sure I didn't know what it was when I dug it.

That's funny. So many times I've gone through things and found pieces of good relics that were in the uncleaned pile or even the recycle bin. After 18 years the stacks are starting to get enormous, and it's harder and harder to find things. A few years ago I organized it all by type rather than by site--and now I keep great records of what was found where (but these records are only for the keepers, not every little bit of brass).

Thank goodness for computers. It sure beats my old methods of keeping track!
