Sir the private don't know. :dontknow: All the ones I have dug are similar to yours. I understand the earlier ones just screwed down into the wood frame like a wood screw. Not sure if this was threaded into a metal frame or had a matching brass nut on the other side. I'm sure someone will come along who is experienced with how it was attached.

No stone throwing here. Your piece would have gone through part of the carriage and had a bolt on the bottom to hold it.

Really? Is there more to the contraption?

rien guide or terret. would have a type of nut on it and would be on the collar or neck strap ,depending on the setup used and also the saddle. Not a riding saddle but a girth saddle.
