Pictures of the back please...

Appears to be a sash buckle.

Also... when posting an item for identification it REALLY helps to know the sizes as well.

And of course... a few pictures from different angles.

Yep! We can't tell if it is a piece for a woman's hair or a rim cover for a swimming pool.

Ha Ha! While most folks put Ceramic Tiles, Stone or Rocks around the rim of their' Pool, a person that is really well off like Trump or Buffett might use Silver or maybe even Gold or Platinum. Who knows??!!??!!:tongue3:

I wish I could find a piece of Silver that big!! The O.P. did state that it is big.

Looks to be an ornamental cinch ring for a horse saddle where the cinch tail hung.

It has little thunderbirds on it, right? At 12:00 and 6:00 in the picture.

I would assume that live in the Southwest, and that this is a Native America piece made for the tourist trade. Appears stamped out of sheet silver, so relatively modern.

Size reference would be helpful... I think it is 3.5" long. A pic of the back might help too.

Congrats on finding silver!
