Story:
Trying to find time to spend with my mother and go detecting all in one day. We decided to meet at an old closed down school in my hometown. After digging what seem to be false signals and finding a dime on the surface I get a good repeat signal of a quarter or 50 cents with my Bounty Hunter Quick Draw 2 at 6-8 inches. I chose to dig this signal, after digging for about 10-15 minutes I got to the 8 inch mark and was ready to give up. Checking the dirt before putting it back out pops my first treasure, a old bank token with no date but reads.(Obverse) First National Bank YPSILANTI MICH. with picture of old bank. (Reverse)We will Accept this on Deposit for 50cts if you open a new savings account of $5.00 or more leaving it in the bank for one year and pay 3% interest on your savings.

If anyone knows anything about these kind of tokens, please contact me: E-mail - [email protected]

Hey Mud,
I see you are from Watkins Glen. I grew up just south of the there in a town called pine valley. Have you swung your detector in the sand at the beach portion of the state park? As a kid I remember the water in seneca lake was freezing cold in the middle of August. With the water as cold as it ussually is there should be a slew of rings just past the water line at the beach. If I remember right you could wade out almost 20 feet and you were only knee deep. Also have you tried to get into the race track when there is nothing going on? the track has a long history and has had literally millions of people walking the grounds in the last 15 yrs. I would love to know if this pans out and you find some nice stuff. Good Luck!!

Yea, your memory holds correct. I have not been to those places yet, more than likely I will. I want to hit old school, churches, farm lands and houses first. Then I will move on to the parks, fairgrounds, race track ext. My house is an old school house, but I get tired of digging trash so I may go back and forth from Parks and race track to old houses and churches. We shall see, I also plain to post a story and picture of every find. HH!

PS: I am also a Certified Scuba Diver so the lake will be hunted as well.
