Any ideas? As you can see by the photos-
Sterling football charm.
Red enameled letter L.
Engraved "Undefeated 1951"

Unless the red letter L is just someone's initial, I can't find the significance of it, can you?

High school or college letter?
Yeah, that was my first thought and I spent an hour looking.
I just spent another 15 minutes and think I found it. I came up with Loudinville H.S. that was undefeated in 1951. I'm looking for their logo now.

Pretty cool find......years ago I was hunting an old homeplace that was completely gone.I noticed a pickup truck pull off the side of the road and an old gentleman, slowly hobbled over to the fence.I really didnt want to stop hunting but what are ya gonna do?LOL!Well, this old fellow was a treasure trove of stories about his childhood spent at that place with the boys that lived there and were his best freinds. Both the boys were gone now,one of which was killed in action in WW2.I spent probably an hour or more listening to this feller, and noticed tears well up in his seasoned eyes as he reminisced.I had completly forgot about the small gold football I had dug,as he told of the last time he seen the boys,as he was going off to play football, and the brothers were both Joining the military. They played one last game there in the feild.I dug down in my pouch and produced the small football. It had his initials on it,and said "Undefeated 1941" ,I handed it to him and his shaky hands trembled as he held it again after all these years. With a chocked up voice he said,it must have been torn from his school jacket he so proudly wore everywhere back then. That was/is one of the most meaningful, memorable days of my detecting

Cool story Kuger. I dont see the L logo Breezie.

Hey Rob. There were several of these football charms posted here on the WII forum in years past. It would be interesting to see if they are the same. I cant search. TN is also very slow today for me.

The other football team was also undefeated. Maybe this. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php?topic=262331.0;imode

Stories like this are what makes metal detecting worthwhile.

Thanks for the replies Beezie and BigC. I'm gonna go with this being from that H.S. I haven't found much on the web other than what's already been posted. It's a small school so not much out there as it relates to the L logo.
