Why are they so terrible? Where do they come from? All white paper with black text... very thin.. look generic and just say $10.00 halves or something along those lines.. no name etc..

Lots of shiny P's and D's but no silver.. consistently no silver..

My bank have been giving me these mixed in with other rolls that have been pretty well.. I think miracle are the good ones.. not mixed in boxes but some boxes miracle and others these black text rolls that are terrible.

I wanted to give the box right back.

One of my banks that uses Garda gives me those black/white crappy halves, I mean halves. Skunkathon for me too when given those.

Mr Garda must be a rich man.

Those are the types of half dollar rolls I get in my area. I am perfectly fine with them, they usually produce silver for me. They also produced 5 boxes that averaged out to 5-6 oz of silver per box with many enders. Working on 3 boxes right now with those black and white wrappers, not too shabby, lots of marked coins but silver as well. It is all location I guess..

hh!

Those are the rolls that produced 2-3 40% consistently for me. I was getting them for a while (I think they were Garda, given the box style) and now I'm getting Brinks brown/white rolls. Total skunks.

i got boxes of black rolls for a while and they gave up a lot of silver, then i never got them again and instead got my normal yellow rolls...keep it up and hh! [R.I.P. Rich Hartford]

My best ever box came rolled in black and white rolls, thin, and easy to open, unlike Loomis. I love them rolls, i have one pinned up right in front of me right now, in hopes of getting more. The box had 25 silvers in it.

Out of the literally dozens of banks I go to only one has the black rolls and the produce above average results.

It's just a wrapper.. that is all. no real correlation to what you'll get. Black/white, yellow, brown.. just all paper. Long ago.. long long ago.. boxes used to come in black/white rolls and they were ok and produced consistantly during a time where silver was much lower. Now, there's only brown and yellow wrappers in my area with less yields. I did get one box with black/white wrappers a month ago and it was a skunker and I thought it was odd. These are just paper that the sorting companies use to wrap their coins. Maybe if they ran out.. they purchase from NF String or the other vender that makes black/white wrappers.

I hate to be contrary, but I LOVE to get black and white halves rolls.

They are sometimes LOADED with silver.

The alternative is white rolls with golden stripes in TOUGH BAGS of plastic with a metal seal (like a twist-tie) on top. How I hate those things. No silver in the halves at all.

The best rolls from bank boxes for me used to be the white with gold stripes and lettering from Garda. When Garda switched to the white rolls with black stripes and lettering, it was like someone turned off a light switch. The silver from those bank boxes turned off instantly and never returned. Not a single silver, not even a 40%er anymore from that bank. I was going through 2 to 4 boxes a week 3 weeks per month back then. After well over 30 boxes of skunks in a row from that bank, I slowed down to just one box per week. After 50 skunk boxes from there I totally stopped buying boxes from that bank. They can keep those white with black striped skunks.

My best box was an opened box of someones rerolled dumps. 81 40%ers, 80 of which were in solid rolls each of 1966, 1967, 1968, and 1969. Someone must have decided they weren't worth keeping. Pics here:
