Just saying years ago they did purchase Whites am I correct. Point is they did have good technology for their time, I thought by now Garrett would have implemented their knowledge into their own systems. Is it simple as this Garrett is happy with the security business and mid level machines, dam shame whites had a good engineer. Xp deus, minelab and even notka are passing them by and they seemed oh well, your opinions im asking for, thankyou.

I wonder if it was a case of just buying out a competitor.

Then opening the device out back and to eliminate it.

I never owned a Garrett machine.
But I cut my teeth on many White's models for decades.

Hi. I worked for the original Whites distributor here in Australia Ken Roberts.
I think Whites stagnated somewhat towards the end. After the original US Whites owner passed away, Ken White, and the son took over it was downhill from there. How often we hear that happen huh!
Yeah Garrett aquired Whites and then tweaked their GM24k but its highly doubtful it was just for that. Because from my perspective when they did get Whites, Whites at the time didn't have anything special. Yeah the 24k was, is a sweet little VLF but there's nothing revolutionary about it. I owned one and liked it but apart from running the 6" concentric coil on it in quiet ground it didn't do anything much different from other VLFs.
I think Whites probably had something they were working on which Garrett thought they'd roll the dice on to acquire. But Im not seeing anything so far thats amazing. The Axiom Gold PI does nothing better than existing PIs and didn't take off here. It looks great but performs so so here. Its actually well behind Minelabs 5000 which is yrs older and nowhere near a 6000 or 7000.
Its also overpriced for a detector here thats sits well behind the pack.
If Garrett got anything from Whites worth buying we are yet to see it.
Perhaps their gamble didn't pay off and there is nothing coming from anything Whites had.
Im personally leaning towards that. Nice to be wrong though.

Sounds correct, they would have created a new and impressive machine by now. Garrett loyalists it’s ok to be brand loyal, but they don’t match up with minelab or xp, ev3n notka.
