Found this am on old homesite that was already missing on 1955 maps. Now just a large daffodil bed. The item is twice as thick as a penny. Not sure what it is made of but it is heavy. Rings a 44 on the legend. Could it be an early hearing aid battery? Can’t find any images of really old round batteries. Anyone know what it is?

Your photos are a bit blurry to tell. Maybe a button?

It has the crimp on one side and the air hole in the middle of the other like a hearing aid battery but it is very big for one.......... Not sure if old ones had larger batteries but if they did, the aids would have to have been ungainly large.

You're thinking/referring to a button cell, watch battery or coin battery. Probably has other names also. I've seen some as big as 20 mm round. So there is a possibility it could be a battery.

This homesite was gone from the maps by 1955. Which is too early for it to be battery from my research unless it was a later drop. I do remember early hearing aids being bulky. Thanks for everyone’s input.
