This object is iron. Has a hole in the center, a pointed end and a chisel bit end.
Length is 8 inches. Found this in a back yard of 1940 or earlier neighborhood house.

Admittedly I Didn't spend allot of Time searching 8" Rock Picks

But this looks Close

However the Center is wrong , I think yours is Much Older.
maybe even hand made by a blacksmith

Gold Maven's idea seems to fit well.
It's shape is darn close to some of these slag hammers.

looks like these guys got it narrowed down to a couple options. mason/mining hammer or a welders slag hammer
