Found this today. It’s brass with the “prince of Wales” feathers on the front. Can anyone please help? Quarter is for size reference.

You may have a horse bridle rosette. I’ve only seen one other round rosette that had the Wales plume on it. Usually they’re cast with a loop in them. Not sure of rarity but certainly not common. Horse Rosettes come in hundreds of shapes and sizes. This also makes your rosette the fourth one posted on TN in the last 24 hours!

Well desertexplorer has hit the nail on the head with their identification of your find. :notworthy:
To be sure that it's a bridle rosette, if you could post a pic of the back that would help.

A beautiful find in amazing condition!
Dave

PS. I'd be interested to know about the significance of the 'Plume/Feather' if any. :icon_scratch:

"A plume is a special type of bird feather, possessed by egrets, ostriches, birds of paradise, quetzals, pheasants and peacocks.
They often have a decorative or ornamental purpose, commonly used among marching bands and the military, worn on the hat or helmet of the wearer."

The “dirt” on the back is as hard as concrete. Did the rosettes have a back piece attached through some sort of mortar?

Do you have any idea what it may be?

Rev War hat Badge?

How thick or heavy is yours? It appears to be too heavy for a hat fixture.

It’s fairly heavy but not unbearable to wear on a hat if that makes sense

Maybe a forage cap badge or plume pin?

I reached out to a British military uniform expert and this is what he had to say.A7D59F76-1382-4F72-8A62-38E21B802330.png

Sure doesn't look like a button, but if he says so, I guess it is a possibility. I would have sworn that it was a drawer knob or knob fitting, similar to this one.

It very well might be. It doesn’t have the holes in it like that one though. I’ve researched it so much my eyes have bled so who knows what it is exactly. I sent him pictures and measurements, and that’s what he said back.
