Can we get a picture of the back of it? That will make it easier to determine what it is - of course there is a chance that someone will already know by the picture.

There have been many of these "E" items posted here and, as of yet they have not been positively identified.

Don't know if it makes any difference but that E could be construed as an M, W, or 3 depending on orientation. Just trying to think outside the box.

The edges of the disc are so thin it reminds me of a button the center of the back is broken off. It is like a uniform button but not necessarily military. It maybe modern. There is a utility easement next to the place.

That thought ran through my head too but, looking at the other posts of a similar item, they look like an "E".

Dunno for sure but it looks like the center of it is made to "push" down into it.

My odd E was found in north Ala. I wonder about the context of the finds. Nearby was a military base from 1930 until present, a spanish american war camp a few hundred yards away and some civil war drops too.
Has anyone considered a hat pin as the purpose.

Here is a map showing the locations of other similar "E" button/disks. We've tried to figure this one out for most of the last decade and still have no definitive ID:

I've always assumed these are farm equipment maintenance related but I can't prove it...

I will also note that this one does NOT have the characteristic pry mark we've seen on many of the other examples.
