A friend of mine showed me this a while back, it was from a local collection which I also bid on but he got this one piece. I think it is made of hematite, it is very heavy, and just super polish on it .I havent seen anything quite like it , if anyone knows what it might be or any thoughts on it I would love to hear it. 1129171208e.jpg1129171208d.jpg1129171208c.jpg1129171208a.jpg

Chisel? Pick? I dunno, but it's a beauty whatever it is.

Chisel came to mind to me also sandchip. I dont know that I ever saw or heard of one before though. I cant believe thats the first thing someone else named it ,it must be one.

I welcome all other opinions on that lol I am really curious about this piece , hopefully someone knows for sure what it is.

I agree with this one. Its a big one to I have seen one before found from my area and its half that size.

Hand adze and a beauty. A chisel I think would be struck with a wooden mallet. Start out long and grind and sharpen often during use. Towards the end they might have converted it into a chisel as it got shorter.

They needed something to get them stone bowls hollowed out with

That's a nice looking chisel it's huge & looks to be made out of hematite!
