posted this on a differant forum but no one could id it or make a guess.
found it about 5 inches down in a wooded area in central new jersey. no known home sites in the area, just fields.
i think it is pewter

Never seen anything like it. I suppose it could be a coin. What is the metal?

The problem with a piece like this is - How do you describe it to start research?

Hammered coin? With a... sunburst? Triangle with slash? Tiny army tank track marks? I'm at a loss...

the area where i found it is a wooded area in the middle of a field, closest house is almost 2 miles away. found many arrow heads in this area
