Any chance of a better pic?

Could be a pipe tamper or a coat hook!

I guess it could be :dontknow: I don't think it's a coat hook though here is a pic. of one I was able to date to 1745/1760. it is referenced in Ivor nole Hume's book Artfacts of colonial America in the furniture/hardware section
no attribution as to maker just shapes round, conical, and this one.

What size? (just to confirm my ID)

If it has a smooth flat top (no signs of a break), then I'm confident to say that its a very early find for the US!

Not really, as they had no iron filled hole. (at first glance of this one, I was going to agree with you, & then I remembered mine)

I first thought Pipe Tamper when I found them. Plus the 2nd from the top left I thought was a Chess Piece (Pawn). It wasn't until I showed a expert (& book writer) that I got an ID. Not everything is in my books (although it maybe in a book somewhere :dontknow: )

OK green check on the spoon do you think the hook was made locally or a immigrant from across the pond?

Now this is strange.

Just got 5 books in the post today & the first one I look at has a picture of this spoon top. So its also known as a 'Seal Top' Spoon & as previously stated its confirmed as 17th Century. :icon_thumright:

I would have guessed some of those are door stops, but I would be wrong. Great ID. I would love to see the complete spoon.

BK, I doubt Cru could answer that one to be honest! Although there seems to be an abundance of these hooks in mine and
Crusaders areas and none in Silver Searchers :icon_scratch:

Thanks for the info, this is one of three found at that site. I am looking forward to going back there in the spring!
Do you know of any one using a G.P.R. setup? cause I'm kicking the idea around about getting one, and would like to know how good the resolution is for coin size objects? It would be nice to have a real time image verses trying to
discern just audio and VDI numbers :-( I do believe one good find (NE shilling) from this site would more than pay for it. also eliminate a lot of unnecessary digging. I have logged on GPS close to 114 mi. at this site, my feet still hurt LOL. Any info greatly appreciated.
