I found this object along a rock wall that the Civilian Conservation Corspe built back in the 1930's. It stands about 2 inches tall. It would almost appear to be an electrode for something. There's a course thread on the shank, therefore, it screws into something. The end of the shank appears to be brass, the main body appears to be pot metal. There's a spring with a flip up lid on top of the main body. Could it be something for blasting dynamite? The rock wall was built on a hill side, so it's possible they had to do some blasting. Thanks for any clues!

Wow, never would have guessed what I found was a grenade..... but I guess I was on the right track..... thought it was some type of ignitor. Suppose some soldier lobbed a grenade over the wall for fun back in the 40's? Thanks!

The only marking I see is the number "2". Apparently a casting
number in the pot metal.

It's from a pineapple grenade. They have a slightly longer nipple on the end due to the pineapple was longer in shape then the ball grenade.
Nice find, but if you find one totally intacked, PLEASE! DON"T PULL OUT THE PIN!
