I'm not sure if the above answer was based on that date, but there were no U.S. patents granted that day. Are we mis-reading the year?

Could be the 19 is very clear the 40 looks different maybe offheres another picture

I believe the patent date is June 5th 1900

After researching June 5 1900 patent this came up as CCM Bike part. Not sure what part but found this picture on CCM site
