Change the letters to numbers. It looks like gold with copper mix. Interesting piece

Do I see a pat. date of apr 27 '96?

vhs07 is on the right track. It could be PAT. APR.27.96

The fancy scroll work on the 'front' looks Victorian to me so I'm guessing 1896?

It was found right next to my victorian era keyhole cover so that sounds promising!

Here is my guess.... A old bottle cap off of a late 1800's medicine bottle, it was thrown in the ocean or came off the titanic and washed up and you found it.......Ok that may sound far fetched but that is a cool find.

Rethinking the "Victorian" part of my earlier post.

Maybe machine gaming token?
