Looks like a stone carving of a river otter, used as an oil lamp.

I don't know but, you might want to scrape the resin from inside ( the next time the Mrs. is out of town ) and light it up. But whatever you do DON"T clean it out until you scrape it.... You might be losing a real treasure.... ;D ;D ;D

A little browsing around brought up this possibility. Maybe Chinese carved jade pipe and not for smoking tobacco.

Agree with otter & oil lamp, but I think it's a sea otter. Possibly native from Alaska Or West Coast USA/Canada.

looks like its carved from soap stone,but dont think its a hash pipe,no where to place that round screen :tongue3:

I agree, definitely looks like soapstone, often used as a carving medium by the Inuit.
How 'Hollow' is it?
