What is it 1900's stove part?

Yesterday I was metal detecting in the Mill River in Massachusetts. The Mill River was where there was a flood in the 1800"s that wiped out a couple of towns. I found lots of great stuff but this is very interesting and ornate as you can see, once you get past the rust. It is about 6 inches in length. I believe it is cast iron. Even if we can't figure it our, I think it is very cool.

Broken, but yes, looks like the foot of an old wood burning stove...
