What is a "shooter" - Eclipse 4x6 Shooter

How does it discriminate trash from treasure? I'm new to the high tech hunting (I've always used a very cheap and old detector) so I don't know what exactly this is or even how it works. The website says it works well in "extreme ground" and has good sensitivity to smaller targets in extreme ground. Can someone please explain this thing to me? Do I replace my coil with this or do I use it with the coil?

You replace your coil with it. It's a smaller footprint coil that will let you separate targets better in trashy areas. It doesn't go as deep as a larger coil but lets you identify targets closer to iron and other trash.
