what is a motion detector

speaking in MD terms what does it mean when a md is a motion detector does it mean it adjusts to diffreent types of soil conditions automaticly or is it a quick recovery time ??

neither.a motion detector is a machine that has to have the coil moving in order to detect a metal object. in other words you need to swing the coil over the object as opposed to just holding it over the object.

understand so is that a good or bad thing to have in a machine

I say good.

With a Motion machine you swing the Ditector in front of you
and it will pick up the signal as the coil is moving, and your walking.

A non motion, you could Miss objects more easily, if you swing a little too fast.

Turn your detector to all metal sometime and move your coil over the target at the speed you move over the ground while detecting in
Discriminate. and I think you'll understand.

although I should add even with Motion Detectors, in Most cases
you do go deeper Swinging Slow.

70's (or was it 80's ?) VLF machines are the Exception, Like the Bounty Hunter Red Barron.
You needed to Swing them as fast as you could to Achieve Depth.
