What is a good rock hammer?

Eastwing Estwing Geological Tools They are made in the USA have a shock adsorbing handle material and all steel construction. I have had several Eastwing hammers and have never had any problems with them.

Cool thanks, Birthday is coming up soon so I am making a list of supplies since I never know what to say when people ask me what I want.

It depends wholly on you. I prefer my good old geology hammer:


Now a smaller hammer is good for smaller specimens, just like when you are hunting for gems.
My hammer is better for general prospecting where the rocks I may have to sample are bigger. It might be good to have both, but the smaller one is a good start!

A few chisels might be wise to invest in addition to the hammer.
