I dug this oddity up this morning. It's made of all copper and at first it looked like a handle to something but wouldn't work cause it's got some rolled copper tubing on the end. It was dug from an old park near the road and does have a patent date but when I looked it up I got about 300 patents filed on that day. I'm lost!

The mark on it seems to say Pat[ented] Feb. 28, '11 but I can't be certain. Please check the marking and let us know what the date actually is, so we can research that Patent.

Looks like part of an artistic fountain.

Is the coiled end hollow, as in a copper gas pipe? Could this be a gas furnace burner? Possibly there were many of these in the furnace and the large spear-shaped end helped spin and spread out the flame.

I'm not 100% here but I think I may have it. The date says "Pat. FEB.28.11." I wasn't able to come up with anything on the patent but doing a regular Google search I did come up with something close. I believe it's an iron. The handle part was near the part with the patent date but it was completely flattened and the curled pipe looks just like the one the picture. I never even knew that irons at one time even ran off of kerosene or oil. Sounds pretty dangerous shaking a container of kerosene near an open flame, around your close, and inside your home. Pretty interesting.

Yea, I'm not so sure on the Iron ID either. When I first saw
the item it immediately reminded me of this:

Which comes off of these:
