I recently came across a post on another forum from a man who lives in the UK. He found theses two objects some years ago in the woods across from a school. Here's the rub..... the area he found these objects at is widely known to be a hotspot for supposed UFO sightings and activity. I am not on here to start a weirdo thread of any sort, but the objects he found are very interesting, I for one, would like to know what the heck these things are. If one of you can identify it, I will let the man who found them, know your answer.

The two items fit together perfectly, and they are not magnetic.

What on Earth (or other planets) is this?

Bill Thibert, from Quarry Gardens in Ludlow, with the unusual metal object he found over six years agoShropshire has become known as a haven for suspected UFO activity with experts being called in to try to determine what strange sights in the sky actually are.

But now a county man is calling for help for another unidentified object – which he found underground with a metal detector. Bill Thibert, from Ludlow, discovered the metal object while out with a metal detector in woods opposite Moor Park School.

Mr Thibert, who has been metal detecting for 30 years, said he discovered the item six years ago but is still no closer to finding out what it is.

The 66-year-old, who is a retired caterer who became interested in metal detecting after reading stories of Roman hoards, today appealed for help.

He said: “You see in the papers all these hoards that have been dug up and when I looked into it, I noticed that when people like the Romans went off to battles, they got killed and left all their hoards behind.

“Before banks, people used to bury all their household silver in the garden.”

He said he had also been inspired by tales of highwaymen hiding their ill-gotten gains in hollow trees and then not being able to claim them.

Despite not finding a hoard himself, he said he still enjoyed metal detecting enough to keep going.

The mystery object

He added: “Some farmers like you to go on their land, because you can find metal objects that would damage ploughs.”

The most valuable thing he has found was a half groat coin, which was more than 400 years old.

Mr Thibert is not currently metal detecting due to a health problem but hopes that following surgery, he may be able to get out and about again.

He has dubbed his unknown find an “unidentified found object” and although he has ideas of what it could be he does not know for definite.

He said: “It’s total weight is 70 grammes and it has the appearance of stainless steel, but I think it could be an apprentice engineer’s test piece.

“The ball is a perfect fit in the circle.”

Im just trying to determine the metal as a first step. :icon_thumright: If it sticks to a magnet, it would have ferrous metal content.

It's called Captive Ball Stainless Steel Earrings. I have had many of them, they go from 20g, ---0g. If he found them near a School, I would say some kids went to "smoke" or do other things. :laughing9:

Did you speak to the OP because the link you gave it doesn't say anything about them being magnetic or not?
Broken knee

They are not body piercings. The shape of the ring is too short to allow the ball to snap in. The ball fits in the opening, but the curve of the ring is not long enough for a ball to snap in. If the curve was longer, then it would actually require a smaller ball to complete the "snap". Wife has a piercing, and I often have to help her put it in, so I am familiar with the device.

It is a body piecing ring for whatever body part you choose to stuff it into.
They go up to at least 19mm-3/4" on the wire diameter not the ring but the wire size the ring is made of..that is even bigger than the one shown.
The ball does not go with that ring it is to large he has parts of two different sizes.

There is different kinds they do not all snap in the same especially when you get into larger gauges.
