Part of a Saxophone; or possibly Bassoon or Oboe. The little caps have cork discs that open or seal the holes to change the tone.

Does the base of your 1935ish toy soldier have any writing on it? It is either a Barclay or Manoil. Happy Hunting, Sub

take it to a instrument shop, and compare it to the instruments on hand, i might be a rare part to a really earlly sax! HH

I'll check it out. I found another a week ago that had the base broke off. It was a soldier kneeling down to release a courier pigeon.

Barclay made the kneeling carrier pigeon GI in the mid 1930's also, Number 731 in their factory catalog with a designation "Soldier Pigeon Dispatcher." Did he still have his separate helmet attached? Congrats! I hope you find many more. Sub

They're in pretty rough shape.
