So found this really weird thing in pieces very deep in the ground on a civil war battle site where I found a few sharps carbines.

It has a gold texture and it's heavy so I believe it's lead based. At first I thought it might be a flask, I should have dug to get the rest of it, I am stupid to quit after this much.

On the bottom it says "Made ___ ________ Japan" It's about 7 letters and I don't know what it says, and as you can see there is a symbol on it above the words that says C.K.

Also it has a pattern on all the pieces, I see wings, maybe like an eagle?

Any ideas?

Made in Occupied Japan. http://www.the4cs.com/~cathy/MIOJ/

Following the end of World War II in 1945 and until 1952, items imported from Japan to the United States had to be marked in a fashion indicating they came from Occupied Japan. Although four different marks were used on cups and saucers during this time ("Japan," "Made in Japan," "Occupied Japan," and "Made in Occupied Japan"), only the last two marks guarantee the pieces were made in the Occupied Japan timeframe. For serious Occupied Japan collectors, it is items with these two marks for which they search.

Could be. That would make it from the late1940's up to the 1950's. If it says made in Japan that would 1890 or newer. Tony

Interesting, any idea what company the C.K. is? or what this item was?
I get a lot of hits from Made in Occupied Japan CK but nothing to ID it. It appears to be a gold painted lead alloy eagle or figurine ash tray or dish. :dontknow:

It couldn't be an ash tray that is actually the bottom of it. But the piece with the hole in it is a clip, like a belt clip.

OK I see that is the base. :icon_thumright: I guess its a gold bird or figurine. How do you know the clip is part of it?

I know it's part of it because it was a part of it, I believe it was attached, all this was clustered together in the same hole, and nothing else was within a foot of it.

True it could be something religious because of the deadly battle.

If you turn the bent angled center part upside down you will see a smiling face with nose, eye and eyebrows or eye lashes. Good luck putting the puzzle together. My guess is a Indian. Arty

I dont think its that much of a mystery. Its a figurine made in Occupied Japan from 1945-52. I think artyfacts got it right on the Indian. :icon_thumright: I see the big nose and you said earlier it looks like feathers. Maybe it was dropped by a child playing with it. If we search long enough, we may find the exact figurine. Its something along the lines of this item. http://www.etsy.com/listing/53299142/indian-maiden-in-canoe-souvenir

It may be a mystery as to why it was deep in the ground all broken.

Thats about what I pictured it would look like but I did a search of the words- gold, metal, Indian, souvenir, "Occupied Japan" and could only find one gold metal indian in a canoe. :D

I bet that is it! :icon_thumright:
The feathers look like a match, and the face and headband. I think we have a winner!

Can you post the link RJHO2? Was it made in Occupied Japan? Its very close to what it would look like but I dont think its a match. The Japan piece has a face that almost comical.

I agree with you RJHO2 and artyfacts that an Indian chief head is most likely what we have and may be very similar. :icon_thumright: But since I dont see anything on the page about made in Ocupied Japan, I disagee with relichunters that we have match/winner. :) The base is also wood. http://www.designtoscano.com/product/code/QL1374.do?code=CJDATAFEED
