They tell me it doesn't exist. They tell me I can't crumble gold with my fingers. I have found the elusive pure gold! It tests pure some of it is in octahedral shapes. It's truly amazing. I need to know who can help me get this purity authenticated. All help will be appreciated! Last pic shows 22kt nitric acid test results..

Roughly,as in what State or Province did you find this? South,North,West,East United States? It looks awfully crystaline to me to be 24K gold. All the nuggets I,ve seen on here are either smooth or jagged shaped. I hope it,s what you think, but you,ve got to give up more info if you want an ID. What does it weigh? How hard or soft is it? Size in inches or MMs,find it in a creek? Hardrock?

I do believe he indicated it crumbled in his fingers.
I would like to know what the specific gravity is of this "24k" gold.

You,ve presented a mystery and asked for help.if you truly want help you,ve got to help us out here.Ain,t nobody gonna load up and hell it out to wherever you are on a couple pictures. Too damn old you see, even if it,s real, which has yet to be determined.

BUT, you have never seen 24kt gold.
True! According to the true gold seekers,it doesn,t exist in nature.Even refined gold in Fort Knox is only .999 percent pure. After much refining.Doesn,t an acid test involve rubbing a streak of the suspected gold on a special stone, then applying the acid?If the acid doesn,t dissolve the streak, then it,s supposed to be the karat for which the acid is rated? I don,t see that here.

Perhaps we will get answers and explanations when the poster comes back on. Let's give them time to explain.

Well we went bottle digging when I was a young lad.
I came upon a rock cut from the railway, I chipped and banged, grubbed me a poke load.
I was rich until I got back to show the family that were at the main site.
My father broke it to me this way.
"What you have blistered your hands up for is something called Iron Pyrite Jim, In other's words they also call it "Fools Gold"

Does it come in 24kt, pepper? I really want to hear more from the poster about this 24kt gold that crumbles.

24 Kt gold doesn't crumble, I have seen 24k gold jewelry, you could bend it but you couldn't crumble it.

Dissolve a table spoon of ( sodium chloride ) common salt in twice the amount of water.

Add a drop of the super saturated salt water to your nitric acid test, if it's gold then it'll dissolve.

If you have hydrochloric acid you can substitute a drop of acid in lieu of the saturated salt water.

Pyrite and gold are often found associated with each other, such as the old Contrary Creek site in VA. Gold mines operated there in the 19th century and a later pyrite mine just upstream. It is possible to have gold with a "crystalline" look to it, usually called specimen gold. But those are usually found in an actual vein, not on the ground or alluvial. As others have said, once gold weathers out it usually ends up being alluvial. Once it is subject to the forces of water it invariably gets that bumpy, lumpy look from getting knocked around as it is washed downstream or into some crevice in the stream bed. Shakespeare was wrong when he said, "All that glitters is not gold" in the sense that gold does not glitter, it gleams. And that is very evident when you've got some color in your pan. IIRC, a proper assay requires at least an oz. which you ain't got. You have pyrite, which is always crystalline because that is what iron disulfide is, a crystal. I saw a lot of people get "gold fever" and start whooping and hollering when all the had was pyrite. I remember one guy who swore it was all platinum - he claimed to be a geologist!! I was fooled myself when I was a kid the 1st time I went panning with my dad. It is a tradition. Is it possible you have a gold wash over some pyrite? I dunno. But you found pyrite. The last 3pics in particular. Notice the visible difference in how they reflect the light vs. those 3 pics of lumpy triangular little shapes. The 2nd pic is the most convincing, but they are all too blurry. No doubt due to their tiny size of your finds. Hope you find what you want!

It is pure crystalline. It tests as pure gold. I'm not sure where it came from due to my wife inheriting it from her father who accquired it many years ago. It is many nuggets although mostly small with a few over 1g, it was in a hard rock but it was not as hard as a normal rock. As it was broke open with ease and rock broke from nuggets with pliers. Come to find out the dark black rock it was in tests positive as 24k gold too. The gold itself is soft enough to pull apart by fingers alone, it separates in layers and crumbles between fingernails. It's truly remarkable. Pictures are near impossible to capture true color and beauty due to its high reflectivity! 24k nuggets are impossible to find. This is 24k crystalline gold. If you look at the pics you can see they octahedron crystal shapes in some. I am amazed and trying to find a way to get this rarity known. I am in the process of making a video to post on YouTube of this gold. I will let you know when I do so you can get a better look at it.
