Maybe I am a snob, but I notice more and more misspellings or misuse of words on this forum. Uses of There when Their seem to to be the most common with I don't NO instead of Know. Maybe these people are not of our country or just illegal aliens. :laughing7:

Or am I just being to critical?

Sandman; I brought this up some time ago, and got royally stomped on for my pains. My favorite game is to beat the spell check and go clean. Good luck with y our try. Bob Ps. laziness may say it all.

Although I believe in propper grammar, I don't nit pick it if I can make sense of it.

You are probably correct. I don't text so maybe this is it. I know what they mean and that is what is important. :coffee2:

Sandman, you are correct. I have noticed that people who are sloppy in their use of grammar or punctuation, are typically sloppy or lazy people in most other facets of their lives. It's not like you have to pull out a 50 pound Websters dictionary and look this stuff up, all you have to do is hit the spell check button and it will almost magically fix the misspellings for you. I don't look for perfection, but I hate having to read something twice just to try and figure out what someone means. Sometimes I can't quite tell if something is written by a kid or just another sloppy adult :dontknow:...

Yeah but using a spell checker takes away from the individuality of the person and their personalities. What does it matter as long as you know what they mean or is it meen nopt it is mean?

Spell check doesn't make it READABLE.

:laughing9:

You can spell THEIR, They're and there correctly, and still fail epically.

:laughing7:

Exactly.
Spellcheck corrects the spelling not the grammer.

My favorite is seeing your when they really mean you're.

I assume that was a joke. Being "to" critical, or "too" critical? ;D

Your right.........When I read it I didn't notice the grammar being wrong. At least I didn't say TWO. :laughing7:

This has been a big issue to me personally & I,m glad it was brought up . Personally I,ve left some sites because I,ve been sorted out because of my lack of Grammer or spelling skills .

I belonged here years back under a different name & I never recall it being an issue before . I,ve been trying my best to do my best so I could at least be taken seriouslly if & when I do post .

But to me its just plain wrong to pick on someone thats trying to fit in with todays society that text messages , plays video games & knows all the new technology type stuff .

I know very little about any of that stuff & was working when most folks were going to grade school so I may not be near as educated as some , but I might just know more about somethings that might or not be helpfull then some of you , as many others here as well .

But If i have to take as much time as I am right now trying my best with one finger & reading glasses on to see the keyboard I dont have time for spell check or whatever . But I do certainlly enjoy reading & looking at pics from people that post here as I have for many years . So if its an issue I just wont get involved much as I posted in My mug shot thread this last time I joined . Just my opinion & Thanks to everyone here for making it mostlly an enjoyable place to visit . Bob

Your right.........

There is that your thing again when you mean you're.

I understand what you mean Buddy but it's a treasure hunting forum,
Not a sixth grade grammar class.
I just figure I can understand what is said and go with it.

LOL
sooo much easier that way.

I try to spell correctly, use words in proper context, correct punctuation and all that other junk. ;D I've noticed that my own biggest fault is completely missing words when typing a response. I'll use the spell check and preview my message and my brain will still "see" words that I meant to type but didn't. Later I'll visit the thread and pick up on it, drives me nuts.

The only thing that I see others doing that drives me up the wall is the run on sentence, with no capitalisation nor punctuation and no paragraphs. I typically don't bother to read those posts and am sure that I've probably missed some good info but have thus far refrained from specifically mentioning my gripe.
