Re: What gear do you use...

I take the usual gear with me also. I carry a bayonet for probing for the coin instead of using an electronic coin probe unless I am using the Sov GT which is the only one of my detectors that has an inline probe. If hunting the wilds of the woods I carry extra protection.

Re: What gear do you use...

All i have is my leather pouch that has a zipper pocket for the good finds........... And a open pocket for junk...................... A pocket in it for my digger.............. and my garrett Pro pointer.................... I almost forgot .... I take my " Metal Detector " with me also.........................................

Re: What gear do you use...

Leche digger
Fisher CZ6 Detector
Garrett Pro Pointer
Military web belt
Pepper Spray, ...to ward off mean dogs...and mean humans if necessary.
30 cal. WWII ammo pouch, a perfect means to carry extra 9 volt batteries
Knee pads

After I'm all dressed up I look like Robo Cop!! :o

Re: What gear do you use...

I take the bare neccessities Detector. probe. pinpointer. belt pouch and portable shovel, spare batteries pepper spray for the animals. and a pouch for junk Just about everything else that any metal detector carries along

Re: What gear do you use...

I take my detector
sa
This is what I take when I hunt the land, my digger, pin pointer, extra battery pack and my apron to put my finds in.

If I am hunting the water or beach area. My water detector, my sand scoop, and apron to put my finds in.......Matt

Re: What gear do you use...

My gear varies with the neighborhood. In the Hood I dig and probe with a military very sharp bayonet. Blade exceeds legal limits....but the cops have never said anything and when too many people are watching or gathering I call it quits.

How do you bend over with all that hanging off the front like that?

It hand in the back and to the side... I could never do it if it was up front... just like someone said depending on the hunt site that determines what bag/belt I use... I have 4 or 5 different belts.... this one is just my long haul belt... got for old home steads way out in the country.

BTW those tool belts like that are great for hunting they are extremely durable.

hahahahaha, i never thought about that. I have an old leather tool belt like yours and its uncomfortable when beending over with it in front. Thanks for the tip :icon_thumright: ;D :tongue3:

i have about the same set up as you...a pouch on each side one for the good stuff i find, extra batteries camera ect..and one for trash on the other.
i carry my digger in the sheath on the back of my belt and a small but tough pair of root cutters in one pouch or the other.

only bad thing about a pouch like this is that you can get overloaded pretty easily... I have come back to the truck several times with 20-30lbs of trash and finds... at these old homesteads I hunt, I find a lot of brass and copper and of course Iron... I keep the iron also at 10 cents a pound it adds up too.

I agree with you chukers. I also keep all my finds. Iron, copper, brass and aluminum it all adds up for extra cash at the end of the year.......Matt

I turned in over 300 dollars in scrap last year... not bad for picking up junk
