what era is this all metal 3 tine Fork? possibly early 1900s - 1910 era?

Hi,

I lean toward the possibility that it is a Civil War era mess kit fork. Three tines would have been the norm.

By the time we hit WWI, the tines on mess kit forks were four.

This thing is a dinner fork and it would have fit in a CW mes kit.

i agree with the cw era. type A three tined fork length 7 5/8 all metal. was used during 1861

hello heres some info from a militaria collector that says:

looks like the type of fork that was adopted by the army in 1874. The equipment manual describing the 1874 equipment shows a photo of this fork along with the other mess gear

these were still in use up until around 1904


then that would date this fork from around 1874 - 1904 era, Indian Wars - Spanish American War era

three tine type forks are say 1850 to early 1900 era -- civil war , indain wars , spanish american war era mess kit type gear.
