So I just joined treasurenet and have to say I am very excited to be here.

I have a really big hunch about a hoard but it is probably in one of the following three places:

Buried a few feet underground, hidden inside an old thick mud or brick wall, or even underneath a cement plaque a few inches thick.

I am aiming for at least a few gold or silver coins, no small target.

My best guess given my research is the Garrett ATI 2500 pro. But I feel it might fall short for what I need... What would you guys use? All advice is welcomed.

Thanks

ground penetrating radar ...for something buried deep ...

Welcome. If you have solid permission on the property or can "rent" the ground from the owner, not at all unheard of, and you know where it is, rent a small backhoe for a day. Even a grandmother can use one they are so easy.

Ground penetrating radar is the only other way. I don't think any machine would find it. My local hardware store is all encompassing and rents them for about $400 including delivery and pickup.

whites also has a deep search set up similar to the garrett. if i recall right. it can pick up a 9"box @ 3.5 ft and a compact car @20 ft

Garrett ATX with Deep Seeker Coil with head phones. I have found stuff so deep I thought I was going to have to file a Lode Claim on it. BTW, if you are using headphones anywhere there might be Rattle Snakes, wear Gators. You might not hear the little buggers.

2X on the backhoe , And GPR rentals .Good luck :)

I'd go with an old BFO unit with a 1'- 3' coil, especially in concrete with wire meshing or rebar reinforcement, or a 2 box TR unit, and the backhoe is a good idea too.

There are several options. For coin size targets you could pick up an old Whites surfmaster PI they will pick up a single coin at about 1'. A jar of coins at about 2'+.
Now a good 2 Box will pick up a jar of coins at about 6' and that is in any direction so it would work for walls. I have the hays 2 Box so that is verified info. You will have to watch out for rebars in concrete. All detectors will pick them up. Good luck. Gold hand.jpg

OP never came back. It's been over a year now, maybe he found it.
