Hello all.
A friend found this and it is a brass pendent of unknown origin about half dollar size.. Anybody speak the 20200507_123540.jpg_ language. Best to all.

The lamp usually represents learning/knowledge, especially when with a book, so I suppose the recipient got this as an award for being a star learner.

It may be Masonic and could represent a reflecting chamber maybe? No skull but the lamp star and open book look familiar.

It's what is generically known as a "knowledge award". They come in various designs with the usual symbols being the 'lamp of knowledge', books/manuscripts indicating learnedness, and often a globe as an indication of the breadth of knowledge. In this case, a star instead, presumably indicating a special achievement. They usually relate to schools, colleges and institutions but were commercially sold with either a blank area on the front or a blank back for user-customisation by inscription.

This kind of thing:

The odd pendant.
Found out recently that the Masons owned the land until they donated it to the city.
Wish I could return it to them.

Lamp of Diogenes (Considered the founder of Cynicism - one of my heroes).

Produced by Hammond & Stephens for Scholastic Awards.

It may be for Masons who learned how to read?
