Oh ,yes, but when you are finished cutting, If glass, both will be damage, the diamond will look good as new. This also works with Rubies which are about one step down from diamonds in hardness. I don't need to by any testing stuff when the jeweler well test it for free.:thumbsup:
 

...just take it to the jewelers and ask him to clean it for you and ask him its value...
 

I believe there's a video in the how to section about using women's face powder to test for gold or silver. As for the diamond itself there are testers you can buy or hit up a local diamond shop. Just make sure they are reputable and never let them take the diamond "into the back" to test it.
