That's a good point..I will venture back out and see. Thank you for your input. Luke

Looks like natural stone to me but I would have carried it home also. Good eye it definitely has that artifact shape.

my first gut reaction is natural, but the second photo appears to have some small dimples possibly made from the pecking process.

When held at an angle to light, do you see dimples over the surface of this?

It does not appear to have any polishing so any dimples from packing should be seen.

I think artifact. The edges appear to have a blade edge, sometimes certain materials exposed to water for eons can get that dull look. I would have kept it for sure!

It's a sedimentary rock. You can see the layers of lines. Too fragile for a celt or axe. I say natural. Gary

I agree with this. I see it a lot where I am. Having come from points south, I had to adjust to 'the way rocks are' up here, LOL! ;)

Thank you all for your invaluable input. I know there is quite a bit of knowledge on this forum. I've been trying for a long time to find artifacts without luck. In Atlantic Canada we dont have a lot of the flint type rocks I see in the states. Any ideas on places to possibly look along the Atlantic coast region? Thanks
